(Tbilisi. January 8. Civil Georgia) – Combatants fighting in Afghanistan during the Soviet-Afghan war joined relatives of abducted monk on January 7 demanding his release in Pankisi gorge, eastern mountainous region of Georgia.
Protesters formed a special organizational staff to coordinate further activities of meeting.
Relatives of the abducted monk say they know who the criminals are and have already informed police about them, but law enforces do nothing to capture kidnappers.
Two hermit monks and two novices were kidnapped in early November 2001. Three of them were released later while one still remains detained. Kidnappers demand ransom of one million USD for releasing the monk.
