Georgia Demands to Examine Gudauta Military Base on Radiation Source

(Tbilisi. January 9. Civil Georgia) – Georgian Environment and Natural Resources Protection Minister Nino Chkhobadze states that the Gudauta military base in breakaway region of Abkhazia should be examined to find out possible radiation sources.

The Minister stated on January 8 that approximately 120 radiation sources were found in the military bases left by the Russian or Soviet soldiers in Georgia.

Georgian Defense Ministry discovered at least 4 radiation sources in Vaziani military base near Georgian capital Tbilisi, after Russian soldiers pulled out of the military base in June 2001.
