Levan Berdzenishvili to co-Chair the New National Movement

(Tbilisi, January 11, Civil Georgia) -Director of the National Library and respected civil activist, Levan Berdzenishvili stated today that he would become a co-Chairman of the New National Movement.

The New National Movement is being formed around Mikheil Saakashvili, MP former Justice Minister and one of the leaders of Citizens Union “young reformers.” The Movement starts its activity as a popular front against corruption and for democratic reforms.

Levan Berdzenishvili stated that he intends to oversee the civil side of the Movement’s activities and does not intend to extend co-chairmanship if it transforms into political party.

Revaz Shavishvili, former head of the Control Chamber (main official watchdog agency) will join the Movement as a second co-Chairman.
