One Dies After the Abkhazians Raid on Georgian Village

(Tbilisi, January 15, Civil Georgia) – One Georgian died in armed clash between the Georgian residents of Gali district, breakaway region of Abkhazia, and Abkhazian military units on January 15.

Approximately 80 Abkhazian policemen raided the village of Gagida. One Georgian was tortured and then killed and several men were arrested, Georgian Interior Ministry reports.

Representatives of the unrecognized Abkhazian government state that the raid was the part of the operation against Georgian guerrillas.
