(Tbilisi, January 21, Civil Georgia) – “2001 was the year of starting combating corruption, in 2002 fight against corruption will shift into the serious stage,” President Shevardnadze stated in the radio broadcast on January 21.
He announced that in February a meeting would be held in which all the governmental structures will take part to discuss ways of defeating corruption.
“It will be proved at the meeting that the large scale movement started against corruption,” Eduard Shevardnadze stated.
Opponents of the Georgian President are skeptical about Shevardnadze’s intentions to defeat corruption.
