One Dies in a Car Accident Involving Russian Peacekeepers

(Tbilisi, January 28, Civil Georgia) – One man died and another was injured after Russian peacekeepers’ vehicle ran over local residents of Zugdidi district, western Georgia, on January 27.

Reports say special tests confirmed that the Russian soldier driving the car had no alcohol in his blood.

An accident may worsen local populations’ attitude towards the Russian peacekeepers. The protest continues at Enguri bridge, demanding Russian peacekeeping troops’ withdrawal from the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone.
