Interior Minister Restricts Police Rights
(Tbilisi, February 6, Civil Georgia) – Minister of Internal Affairs Koba Narchemashvili issued a decree that would restrict the rights of the police to conduct drug usage checkups and conduct searches. This right would be restricted to only one specialized department and only when substantive operative information exists.
Previously all police checkpoits, including the traffic police used a pre-text of drug usage checkup to extort bribes.
