(Tbilisi, February 25, Civil Georgia) – President Shevardnadze stated today that the Secretary of the National Security Council Nugzar Sajaia asked for resignation on February 23, due to the defamation campaign against him.
President stated that he has rejected the request because “I could not imagine working over the problems without him.”
Moral terror against Sajaia caused an incident, Eduard Shevardnadze stated. “This is a well-planned activity against government and the President. This is struggle for the regime, that reached its critical edge.”
Recently MP Boris Kakubava accused Nugzar Sajaia in an attempt at assassination of Aslan Abashidze Head of the Adjara Autonomous Republic.
