Georgian Parliament Slams Russian Officials Statements Concerning Abkhazia
(Tbilisi, February 28, Civil Georgia) – “Intention of Russian Duma Council’s Foreign Affairs Committee to discuss issue of possible joining breakaway Abkhazia to the Russian Federation is an open aggression against Georgia,” Former Parliamentary Chairman Zurab Zhvania stated at the Parliamentary session on February 28.
Chairman of Committee on Foreign Affairs of Duma Council Ragozin stated about the committee’s intention on February 27.
Georgian MPs intend to adopt a special resolution concerning the Russian MP’s statement.
Georgian MPs believe that Russia is concerned with the US military assistance to Georgia and now Russia threatens Georgia to recognize sovereignty of breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Osetia.
