National TV Reports Airspace Violations

(Tbilisi, March 1, Civil Georgia) Georgian national television reported violations of the Georgian airspace over Pankisi gorge today. Civil Georgia has no official confirmation as of yet.

Prime-time news program reports said Georgian airspace was violated twice. A military helicopter entered the airspace from northwest over the Caucasus ridge and several jets violated the Georgian airspace over the Pankisi gorge. The reports say the jets were flying at altitudes of 3 to 4 thousand meters, they remain unidentified and allegedly performed reconnaissance flights.

The reposts come as Russia remains bitter regarding the reports on launch of the U.S.-sponsored antiterror operation in Georgia’s troubled Pankisi gorge.
