Russian Duma Committees Discuss Situation in Georgia
(Tbilisi, March 5, Civil Georgia) – Joint session of Russian Duma Council Committees on Foreign and CIS Affairs is held on March 5. Session discusses situation in Georgia and the US military assistance to Tbilisi.
Russian Foreign Deputy Minister Viacheslav Trubnikov, representatives of Federal Security Service, General Staff of Defense Ministry and the Russian President’s administration attend the session as well.
Joint meeting of the two Duma Committees is held beyond the closed doors.
At the meeting Russian authorities discuss the draft of the statement concerning the US military presence in Georgia.
Russian MPs intended to discuss the possible recognition of breakaway Abkhazian sovereignty, but on March 4 Russian Speaker Genadi Selezniov stated that the issue would not be in the agenda.
