(Tbilisi, March 6, Civil Georgia) – Georgian President Shevardnadze stated in the televised interview on March 5 that Tedo Japaridze, Georgian ambassador to the United States, Canada and Mexico is the most reasonable candidature on the post of the National Security Council Secretary.
The post is vacant since February 25, when former Security Council Secretary Nugzar Sajaia committed suicide.
Georgian President intends to sign decree appointing Tedo Japaridze on the post on March 6.
In 1992-1994 Tedo Japaridze was a national security adviser to the Head of the State [Eduard Shevardnadze].
