Four Parliamentary Factions Boycott Session
(Tbilisi, March 13, Civil Georgia) – The Parliamentary factions Socialists, Revival, Alliance for New Georgia and Tanadgoma joined the New Right Wings faction and refused to attend Parliamentary sessions on March 13.
Irakli Gogava, leader of the pro-Presidential faction Alliance for New Georgia stated that New Right Wings demand is absolutely acceptable for him.
The New Right Wings faction expressed non-confidence towards the Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze last December.
The faction protests against appointment of Burjanadze’s husband, Badri Bitsadze on the post of the Deputy Prosecutor General.
Chairman of the faction Davit Gamkrelidze pinpointed his resentment of concentrating too much power in a single family.
On March 13, Nino Burjanadze stated that she does not understand the factions’ decision to boycott the session, because the New Right Wings intend to participate in the Parliamentary session on March 14, when the situation in breakaway Abkhazia will be discussed.
