Armenian Minority Demands Recognition of Armenians Genocide
(Tbilisi, March 18, Civil Georgia) – During the meeting with the Georgian Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze Armenian population of Akhalkalaki [town in Samtskhe-Javakheti region of Georgia populated with the Armenian minority] demanded from the Parliament to recognize Armenians genocide during the Ottoman empire in 1995.
Nino Burjanadze stated that the issue is discussed by the Turkish and Armenian join commission and Georgia will wait for the results of the commission’s work before making any decision on the issue.
Georgian Parliamentary Chairperson visited Samtskhe-Javakheti region on March 16-17.
