Georgian Guerrillas Want to Swap Peacekeepers for Two Detained Georgians
(Tbilisi, March 19, Civil Georgia) – Georgian guerrillas want to swap three officers and one soldier for two Georgians detained by the Russian peacekeepers during the armed clash last week.
Peacekeeping forces handed over detained guerrillas to the Abkhazian side.
Internal Affairs Ministry reports that abducted peacekeepers will be released today.
Georgian President Shevardnadze, who visits Brussels at the moment, expressed concern regarding the incident and demanded from the law enforcement agencies to hasten peacekeepers’ release.
Four Russian peacekeepers were kidnapped on March 19, while patrolling in Gali district.
