Russian MPs to Discuss Situation in Georgia Again
(Tbilisi, March 20, Civil Georgia) – Russian MPs decided on March 20, to discuss situation in Georgia at the joint meeting of Duma Council Committees on CIS Affairs and Security on March 21.
“Situation aggravates in Abkhazia and South Ossetia and bloodshed is anticipated there in May-June,” Russian news agency RIA reports, quoting Russian MP, Communist Party member Anatoli Chekhoev.
Boris Pastukhov, Chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs stated that situation is “really aggravating in Georgia and this must be discussed.”
Russian Duma Council has already discussed situation in Georgia concerning the US intention to deploy its military instructors in Georgia.
On March 6 Russian Duma Council adopted resolution on Georgia. Russian MPs expressed concern over US military assistance to Georgia.
The statement does not rule out possibility of recognizing sovereignty of breakaway Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
