Part of MPs Want to Postpone Voting on Anticorruption Bill

(Tbilisi, March 22, Civil Georgia) – One part of the Georgia Parliamentarians wants to continue working over the draft law on “Return of Ungrounded Property to the State” before voting.

Majority of MPs say that principles of the draft are acceptable for them but doubt cause some details that they believe does not correspond to the Georgian Constitution.

The draft proposed by reformers’ faction leader Mikheil Saakashvili considers return to the state of property, possessed illegally by the governmental officials.

Debate continues on the issue in the Parliament at the moment.

MPs are to discuss another draft elaborated by the Justice Ministry which also aims to defeat corruption, but the draft does not considers return of the property illegally possessed by the high level officials.
