Military Operation not Planned in Abkhazia – Georgian Defense Minster

(Tbilisi, March 23, Civil Georgia) – “Peace talks costs cheaper to Georgian government, then military operations in Abkhazia. Thus the peace process should continue,” Georgian Defense Minister Davit Tevzadze stated on March 23.

Defense Minister called absurd statements made by Russian politicians that Georgia intends military operations against its breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

Tevzadze said that Georgian Defense Ministry will withdraw its troops from upper Kodori gorge, the only territory in Abkhazia controlled by the Georgian government, in the nearest days.

Georgian border guarders will replace Defense Ministry’s troops Kodori.
