Former High Officials Run for MP

(Tbilisi, May 7, Civil.ge) – Badri Khatidze, former Head of the President’s Regional Management Service and Koba Buchukuri, former Governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region would seek to be elected in the parliament through by-elections in Georgia’s Mtskheta provincial election district.

Both of them were sacked for tax evasion charges. Koba Buchukuri was dismissed in February; he is thought to be the supporter of former Parliamentary Chairman Zurab Zhvania.

Badri Khatidze was dismissed in April; he is regarded as a pro-Presidential politician.

By-election in the Mtskheta constituency is scheduled for June 2.
