New Vice-Speaker Elected

(Tbilisi, May 17, Civil Georgia) – MPs elected one additional Parliamentary Vice-Speaker at the special session on May 17, from the group of independent MPs – Merab Samadashvili.

Now there are 6 Vice-Speakers in the Parliament. According to the decision took by the Parliament there should be 7 although candidature from the Industrialists faction Zurab Tkemaladze withdrew his candidature and the one Vice-Speakers posts remains vacant.

Only the Industrialists faction member has right to take this post. Before the voting Zurab Tkemaladze stated, “there is no need in the 7 Vice-Speakers in Parliament and that is why we will not nominate candidature on the post.”
