Parliamentary Chairperson Defuses Concerns Over Kodori

(Tbilisi, May 18, Civil Georgia) – “There is peaceful in Kodori gorge and no military maneuvers are observed”, Nino Burjanadze, parliamentary Chairperson informed the MPs at the session on May 17.
 
Burjanadze said that she talked with Chief of the Intelligence Department Avtandil Ioseliani, who confirmed that situation is stable in Georgian controlled Kodori gorge, breakaway Abkhazia.

On May 16 Ioseliani stated that Russian and Abkhazian troops intended to attack upper Kodori gorge. Georgian Defense Minister denied report and stated that he had no information concerning the anticipated attack on Kodori.
