CEC Postpones Registration of the CUG for the Locals

(Tbilisi, May 22, Civil Georgia) – Meeting of the Central Elections Commission [CEC] on which the issue of registration of Citizens’ Union of Georgia [CUG] party was to be discussed was delayed.

Tbilisi district court deprived Zurab Zhvania’s team the right to participate in the local elections in the name of the CUG. Only the supporters of Levan Mamaladze, governor of Kvemo Kartli region can represent the CUG.

Zhvania’s team can appeal to the Supreme Court to cancel district court’s decision. CEC will decide whether to register CUG after the Supreme Court’s decision.
