Georgia Will Receive Military Equipment from Czech Republic

(Tbilisi, May 23, Civil Georgia) – The US trained Georgian anti-terrorist units will receive military equipment from the Czech Republic, Georgian Deputy Defense Minister Gela Bezhuashvili told the reporters today.

The issue was discussed during the meeting of the Chief of General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces Irji Shediv? and Georgian Defense Minister Davit Tevzadze on May 23. 

“Now we are fixing the exact amount of the equipment that Georgia will be supplied,” Gela Bezhuashvili stated after the meeting with the Czech military official.

Col. Otar Shalikashvili, a chief advisor of the US Defense Secretary for the US-Georgian military cooperation, stated earlier in May “we would supply only Soviet-type weapons and there would be no interoperability problems.”
