Burjanadze Says Russia should not Worry about US Presence in Georgia
(Tbilisi, May 23, Civil Georgia) – “Russia did not ask Georgia when it was discussing its relationship with NATO and now it expresses dissatisfaction that US and Georgian relations have deepened in the military sphere”, Nino Burjanadze, Parliamentary Chairperson, stated at the briefing held together with Sergei Mironov, Chairman of the upper chamber of Russian Parliament.
Russian side was informed in advance about US military instructors coming to Georgia and it was no supposed to cause scandal, Burjanadze said.
Georgian Parliamentary Chairman went on to say that if the Russian Federation had helped Georgia in strengthening its armed forces Georgia would not have looked for help in other countries.
