Police Arrested Observer from Watchdog NGO

(Tbilisi, June 2, Civil Georgia) – NGO coalition, which observes the locals, reports its member Tengo Shergelashvili of Association of Young Economists Association of Georgia is illegally arrested by the police.

He was on his way to one of the Tbilisi constituency to monitor the report on violations in that constituency when he was arrested. Law enforcers say that Shergelashvili is arrested because he beat the policeman.

NGO coalition members deny report and claim that the incident is the fact of pressure towards the independent observers and NGOs which monitor the elections.
