Turkey Provides 2.8 Million USD for Georgian Army

(Tbilisi, June 11, Civil Georgia) – An agreement about implementation of necessary activities in the sphere of logistics was signed today by General Leutenant Davit Tevzadze, Defense Minister of Georgia, and Gen. Huseyin Kivrikoglu, Chief of the General Staff of Turkey.

According to the agreement, the Turkish side provides 2.8 million US Dollars for Georgian military. The amount will be spent on modernizing Marneuli military airfield and Vaziani military base.

The financial assistance includes training of Georgian Special Forces and providing Georgian armed forces with vehicles also.

Gen. Huseyin Kivrikoglu, former President of NATO Military Committee and Commander of Turkish Armed Forces, paid a two-day visit to Georgia.
