Budgetary Shortfall Again

(Tbilisi, June 13, Civil Georgia) – The Georgian Treasury Department reported today that the budget in May was fulfilled with 82%.

79 million Lari (approximately USD 35 million) was planned to be the income in May. Budget was fulfilled with 65 million Lari (USD 29 million).

According to the Treasury Department mainly the Customs Office failed to collect the revenues.

On June 14 the Parliamentary Committee on Tax and Revenue is to discuss the fulfillment of the budget of the first quarter of 2002. The government also failed to meet its budget targets for this period.
