Georgian, Russian Envoys for Abkhazian Issue Discussed the Conflict

(Tbilisi, June 21, Civil Georgia) – Georgian President’s personal envoy for the Abkhazian conflict settlement Aslan Abashidze, head of Adjarian Autonomous Republic met Russian President’s envoy for the Abkhazian issues Valeri Loshchinin on June 20.

After the meeting Aslan Abashidze stated at the news conference in Moscow that while meeting with his Russian counterpart, Georgian Parliament was discussing the issue of the Abkhazian status.

Status of Abkhazia is not determined in the Georgian Constitution. Aslan Abashidze said that the determination of the status at the moment is the way to the new confrontation.

“At first parties should agree on the status and then determine it by the constitution,” Aslan Abashidze said.

Georgian envoy said that without Russia it will be impossible to solve the Abkhazian conflict.
