No Need for Military Operation in Pankisi – Interior Minister Claims

(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, July 17, 2002) – “There is no need of joint military operation with other state, it is not necessary and it would be politically wrong step as well,” Koba Narchemashvili, Georgian Interior Minister told the Civil Georgia on July 17.

The Minister committed on rumors concerning the possible joint US-Russian-Georgian military operation against the criminals and terrorist hiding in Georgia’s troubled Pankisi gorge. 

He said that fortunately there is not so criminal situation as it was before and the law enforcers are able to move within the gorge freely.
