NGOs and Political Parties Condemn Violence

(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, July 19, 2002) – With the initiative of Georgian NGOs meeting was held with political forces at the “Sheraton-Metechi Palace”.

Representatives of non-governmental sector offered draft of joint declaration to the leaders of political parties. In the joint declaration outstanding leaders of NGOs and political parties express their concern about current developments in Georgia. NGO representatives emphasized that the process of authority criminalization is in progress, which threatens to the constitutional model of power transition.

Representatives of NGOs and political parties expressed their readiness and willingness not to allow criminalization of country and ensure peaceful transition of power according to constitution.

The first meeting on the mentioned issues was held at the office of National Democratic Party last week.
