Officers Demanding Dismissal and Defense Minister Hold Talks

(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, July 19, 2002) – Georgian Defense Minister Davit Tevzadze holds talks with Nika Janjghava, acting chief of the land forces, which together with 100 officers of the elite battalions quitted Armed Forces today.

The talks are held in the headquarters of the Georgian Land Forces in Tbilisi. Before the talks the chiefs of the Georgian Defense Ministry held the urgent meeting.

Davit Tevzadze before the talks told the reporters, while commenting the incident that the dismissal of Janjghava was reviewed for ‘unsanctioned release of information.’ The Minister did not disclose the details.
