Adjarian Leader Talked with MPs on Abkhazia
(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, July 22, 2002) – For the first time head of the Adjarian Autonomous Republic Aslan Abashidze participated in the Parliamentary bureau session in Kobuleti, Adjara on July 21.
The main topic of his talk with the MPs was the Abkhazian issue. Aslan Abashidze is the President Shevardnadze’s personal envoy for the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict settlement.
Adjarian leader stated that he is only for peaceful resolution of the conflict and criticized Tbilisi-based Abkhazian government in exile for pushing the government to use force to solve the conflict.
Abashidze said that some politicians in Tbilisi try to hinder his activity towards Abkhazian conflict resolution.
