Court Releases NGO Attacker Suspect

(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, July 26, 2002) – On July 25 Tbilisi district court released Giorgi Doinjashvili, which was suspected in attack against the human rights advocacy NGO Liberty Institute, due to lack of evidences.

Giorgi Doinjashvili pled guilty when he was arrested, but denied accusations later.

On July 10 up to ten men attacked the Liberty Institute violently beating up the staff members and destroying equipment.

Liberty Institute leaders claim that the violent attack was organized by the governmental structures.
