Command and Control Part of GTEP Ends

(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, August 2, 2002) – The closing ceremony of the Command and Control trainings of the Georgia Train-and-Equip program (GTEP) was held today.

Georgian President, Defense Minister, US ambassador to Georgia and other officials attended the closing ceremony.

190 Georgian officers underwent the Command and Control trainings at the Georgian Military Academy during in ten weeks. This part of the GTEP aimed to have well-trained professional staff that maintain the knowledge, have contingency plans and operational control.

“It is great honor for us and the matter of prestige that the United States choose Georgia as a partner in war against terror,” Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze said at the closing ceremony.
