Crime Case Initiated on Arrested Chechen Fighters
(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, August 5, 2002) – Georgian State Security Ministry initiated a crime case against 7 Chechen fighters arrested at the Russian-Georgian border on August 3.
The crime case was initiated according to the following articles: “illegally crossing the border” and “illegally transporting automat guns and explosives”, press secretary of the State Security Ministry Nika Laliashvili told the Civil Georgia today.
6 of the arrested are in hospital right now and later they will be moved to jail hospital. One of the arrested is placed in an isolator of the State Security Ministry.
Allegedly, the arrested confessed that they had participated in the armed clashes in Itum-Kale, Chechnya.
