Intruders Noticed by Georgian Border Guards

(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, August 5, 2002) – Georgian border guards noticed a group of allegedly armed Chechens having crossed Russian-Georgian border by check-point Girevi, bordering Chechnya, at 11.30 p.m. last night.

A special unit of Georgian border guards headed by col. Korneli Salia trails the group.

Territory by the check-point, where an unidentified group was noticed last night, was bombed by 3 Russian jets on August 4.
