Georgian Border Guards Detained Two Chechen Intruders
(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, August 21, 2002) – Georgian border guards detained to Chechens near the Georgian-Russian border on August 20. One of them was armed.
Valeri Chkheidze, Commander of the Georgian Border Guard Department told the reporters today that the Russian law enforcers are informed concerning the detention of the Chechens.
This is the third case of detention of Chechens in Georgia near the border with Chechnya in August. 13 armed intruders were arrested on August 3-5. They stay in preliminary detention in Tbilisi.
