South Ossetian Special Forces Beat Georgian Officer
(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, August 22, 2002) – On 21 of August Mevludi Maisuradze, Georgian officer of peacekeeping forces in Tskhinvali region, was beaten at the Ergneti market by the special forces officers of self-declared South Ossetian Republic. Afterwards, Georgian officer was taken to the Tskhinvali police department.
Maisuradze interceded an unknown citizen at the Ergneti market, whom Ossetian officers tried to take with forcefully.
Georgian officer was released after Mikheil Mikadze, the Commander of Georgian peacekeeping unit in Tskhinvali, came to the police department.
“Fortunately, I came timely there. Otherwise, they would have killed him”, Mihkeil Mikadze told “Rustavi 2”.
