Defense Ministry Delegation Visits Romania

(Tbilisi, September 3, 2002, Civil Georgia) – Georgian Defense Ministry delegation, led by Gela Bezhuashvili, Deputy Defense Minister pays official visit to Romania on September 3-7.

Georgian Defense Ministry reports that the meetings with the Romanian Defense leadership are planned during the visit.

The possible participation of Romania in the US funded Georgia Train-and-Equip program (GTEP) will be discussed. In the frames of the GTEP Georgian anti-terrorist units will be supplied with only Soviet-type weapons to avoid interoperability problems.
