US Gives Georgian Border Guards Helicopter, Plane, Assists to Construct Airfields
(Tbilisi, November 14, Civil Georgia) – The United States will hand over to the Georgian Border Guard Department one helicopter MI-8 by the end of November.
Shalva Londaridze, Georgian Border Guard Department Spokesman told Civil Georgia today that by the end of this year border guard will also receive one aircraft AN-28 from the US.
?The agreement between Georgia and the US concerning the issue is already achieved. The agreement also considers assistance in construction of three airfields,? Border Guard official said.
The airfields will be constructed in Lagodekhi, eastern Georgia, Mestia in western mountainous region and in Kodori gorge, which is the only part of breakaway Abkhazia controlled by the Georgian authorities.
