Jorbenadze-Rcheulishvili Negotiations

(Tbilisi, November 25, 2002. Civil Georgia) State Minister Avtandil Jorbenadze, who also is the chairman of the Citizens Union Party, is conducting consultations with the vice-speaker of the Parliament, leader of the Socialist Party, Vakhtang Rcheulishvili with purpose of negotiating a new alliance between the two political forces.

It is believed that the main issue to be negotiated is creation of a new majority in the Parliament. Although Socialists’ votes will not be sufficient for the Citizens Union to create a new majority, it is quite probable that other factions would join the alliance as well.

Results of the negotiations will be known later in the evening, but many estimate that Jorbenadze and Rcheulishvili will reach an agreement.
