President Threatens to Veto Draft Laws
(Tbilisi, January 8, 2003. Civil Georgia) – President Shevardnadze announced at the government’s meeting today “the Parliament wastes too much time and adopts many ineffective laws.”
“I avoid disagreements with the Parliament and that is why do not use my constitutional right to veto the laws adopted by the Parliament,” Eduard Shevardnadze stated today.
President said that his Parliamentary Secretary Mariam Tsatsanashvili often advises him to veto some of the laws.
