Georgian Transport Minister to Discuss Abkhaz Railway Issue in Moscow
(Tbilisi, January 14, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Georgian Minister of Transport and Communication Merab Adeishvili arrives today in Moscow to discuss with the Russian authorities issue of reopening of the railway route between Russia and breakaway Abkhazia.
President Shevardnadze stated on January 13 that during the visit Georgian Minister would try to convince the Russian side that the unilateral decision to reopen the railway connection with the breakaway region is the violation of the international conventions.
Georgian President also said that he would not prolong the Russian peacekeepers’ presence in the conflict zone in case the railway route is not closed.
