Opposition Wants to Postpone Discussion of Draft Budget

(Tbilisi, January 17, 2003. Civil Georgia) – The opposition faction Revival demanded at the Parliamentary special session today to postpone discussion of the 2003 draft budget. Another opposition faction the United Democrats supported the proposal.

“There is no reason to discuss the draft budget in case there are no changes in the draft,” MP Jemal Gogitidze of Revival faction said.

Today Parliamentary special session is to discuss the 2003 draft budget, which was rejected by the Parliament in late December.

The government submitted the new draft saying that there are only minor changes in the new draft.

The pro-governmental factions in early January formed the Parliamentary majority to adopt the budget.
