Bush Offers Shevardnadze Assistance in Transition of Power

(Tbilisi, January 22, 2003. Civil Georgia) – “We can work together and provide fair and free coming to the power of the new generation of leaders after 2003 and 2005 elections,” the message of US President George W. Bush sent to his Georgian counterpart reads.

The State Chancellery (Georgian President’s administration) reported on January 21 that the US President’s message says that the first of all it is important to strengthen the energy field of the country and intensify fight with terrorism in order to obtain trust of the population toward the democracy and the government of Shevardnadze.

“You put ground to democracy in Georgia, and peaceful and fair transfer of power to the new generation of democrats will be basis for democratic development of the country,” says George W. Bush.
