Parliamentary Special Session Continues Discussion of 2003 Budget

(Tbilisi, January 28, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Today Parliamentary special session holds second hearing of the 2003 draft budget.

The Parliament has already adopted the draft budget with the first hearing on January 17. The opposition Parliamentary factions refused to support the draft. Opposition is still against of approval of the budget.

It is anticipated that the draft budget will be approved with the second and third hearings today.

Approval of the 2003 budget is a success of the pro-presidential factions, who failed in December 2002, to collect the necessary 118-vote majority for passing the draft.
