Alleged Member of Plot Waives Parliamentary Immunity

(Tbilisi February 7, 2003. Civil Georgia) – The Chairman of the Citizens’ Union of Georgia Parliamentary faction Vitali Khazaradze said on February 6 he would withdraw Parliamentary immunity in order not to hinder investigation regarding the alleged coup attempt.

MP Vitali Khazaradze was named by the opposition leaders as one of the member of the anti-presidential plot.

Levan Gachechiladze of the New Rights party and Mikheil Saakashvili of National Movement said that together with Khazaradze, Interior Minister Koba Narchemashvili and State Minister Avtandil Jorbenadze.

President Shevardnadze ordered the General Prosecutor’s Office on February 5 to probe the source of rumor regarding the alleged coup attempt.
