Shevardnadze Says Use of Georgian Military Bases by US not in Agenda
(Tbilisi February 14, 2003. Civil Georgia) – “Possibility of use of Georgian military airfields by the US in war against Iraq is not discussed between Georgia and US,” President Shevardnadze said at the government session on February 14.
“This is very important issue and I could not decide it alone,” Shevardnadze said. He dismissed the rumors on the possibility of providing Georgian airfields to the US troops in a possible war against Iraq.
“The issue was not and is not discussed,” President stated.
