MPs Want to Probe Alleged Import of Spare Parts for Aircraft Factory from Iran
(Tbilisi. March 14, 2003. Civil Georgia) – MP Jemal Gogitidze said at the Parliamentary session today that the spare parts for the Tbilisi aircraft factory TbilAviaMsheni is imported from Iran.
The Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze requested the General Prosecutor’s Office as well as the Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Security to study the report.
“I have just talked with Vazha Tordia, which is the Chairman of the Supervising Board of the TbilAviaMsheni, and he categorically denied the report, but I am sure the issue should be probed anyway,” Nino Burjanadze said.
The state-owned TbilAviaMsheni has announced a tender on transferring its management to a private company recently.
The company is producing four modifications of the Su 25 battle support aircraft. TbilAviaMsheni is the only company, which operates full assembly line of the Su 25 aircraft, owning a complete package of the blueprints of the aircraft.
