Shevardnadze does not Expect Influx of Iraqi Refugees to Georgia

(Tbilisi. March 24, 2003. Civil Georgia) – President Shevardnadze said at the briefing today that he ?doubts refugees from Iraq might influx to Georgia.?

?Georgia has thousands of IDPs from Abkhazia, Samachablo [South Ossetia] and refugees from Chechnya, thus it will be extremely difficult for us to receive refugees from Iraq,? Eduard Shevardnadze said.

?It would be very inconvenient for Iraqi refugees to go to Georgia. There are number of Muslim countries, which are ready to receive refugees from Iraq,? Georgian President said today.
